Agencies

Non-participating publishers at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) have the specific option to authorize an active exhibitor to represent them and sell their publications.

  1. Validity: This authorization is granted for the current edition of the fair only.
  2. Documentation: Representing exhibitors must maintain the original, signed, and stamped authorization letter on-site. This document must be presented immediately upon request by the Fair Management.

2. Geographic Representation Rules

Representation rights are determined by the participating exhibitor's country of origin:

  1. UAE-Based Exhibitors: Are permitted to represent publishers and hold authorizations from any country worldwide.
  2. International Exhibitors: Are permitted to represent publishers and hold authorizations from their own country of origin only.

3. Compliance and Conditions

To maintain the integrity of the fair's layout and cataloging, the following conditions apply:

  1. Exclusivity for Arabic Houses: Arabic publishing houses are permitted to appoint only one agent among the exhibitors participating in the Arabic section.
  2. Policy Enforcement: In the event of a violation, the Fair Management reserves the right to take appropriate action. This may include the cancellation or suspension of participation without the refunding of any paid fees.
  3. Management Discretion: The SIBF Management reserves the right to reject any authorization request without providing justification and without assuming any legal or financial liability.

4. Online Authorization Registration Process

SIBF provides a streamlined online workflow for registering authorizations. Please follow the path that matches your current status:

Scenario A: For Publishers Already Registered

Publishers with an active account on www.sibf.com should:

  1. Log in to their portal.
  2. Complete the official authorization form.
  3. Designate the specific exhibitor who will represent them.
  4. The request will automatically be sent to the chosen exhibitor’s account for approval.
  5. Following exhibitor approval, Fair Management will review the application for final acceptance based on agency rules.

Scenario B: For New Publishers

Publishers without an existing SIBF account must:

  1. Register the company profile through the website.
  2. Wait for account activation by the Fair Management.
  3. Once activated, follow the steps outlined in Scenario A to complete the authorization.

Scenario C: For Foreign Language Section Exhibitors

In cases where a foreign language exhibitor holds multiple authorizations from publishers who do not yet have SIBF accounts:

  1. The exhibitor may log in to their own account.
  2. Add the authorization details for these publishers directly.
  3. Fair Management will review these manual entries and issue a confirmation email regarding approval or rejection.
