This annual award is granted to a personality or an institution that has been working actively in the field of culture. The winner is selected under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The winner will be announced during the Sharjah International Book Fair and the award is meant to honour their significant contribution to culture, whether because they produced literary works or because they actively took part in the cultural life of the community.
In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the award for translation and writing was launched to promote well-established international translations that rely on the human achievement in its cultural and intellectual aspects and use it as a foundation upon which to build the human civilization and build bridges that connect the east and the west. Such translations seek to support serious publishing work that is able to emphasize the role of the word and activate creative ideas that are capable of pushing the world civilization scene forward toward the desired integration.
This award aims to encourage both authors and publishers alike to contribute to the country’s intellectual and scientific development. It also aims to promote literature in the UAE by supporting research, publishing, writing, and content creation.

An annual conference bringing together hundreds of library experts from around the world.
The Guest of Honour presentation will feature the Greek classical literature, contemporary authors and philosophical traditions in the discussion with the Arab heritage. It will comprise visual displays and installations that will capture the Hellenic culture and its Mediterranean ties, traditional and contemporary Greek cultural performances. The translation and publishing panels of literature will bring out the interaction between Greece and the Arab world and interactive workshops and lectures will promote creative dialogue and education.
